late 19th century Kiku Katazome panel $45

late 19th century Kiku Katazome panel $45

$45.00

This late 19th century Japanese katazome fabric employs a pattern of kiku or chrysanthemum flowers and foliage on a deep indigo background. The chrysanthemum is the national symbol of Japan and represents long life and rejuvenation. This textile was woven using a handloom and hand spun cotton threads. The fabric is in great shape and it has a beautiful texture and weight due to the hand spun threads. The indigo color has faded over the years and speaks to the years of use this fabric has seen. This fabric is strong enough for pillows or other sewing or boro projects. It would also be beautiful used as a table runner or even framed. 12 x 12.5 inches.
